Just got back from watching Fantastic Four. All I really required or expected was to be entertained for two hours and see some nice FX. More than delivered. Movie was just pure fun. No attempts at a "higher" message(glares at...uhm...every single superhero movie out there) just an adventure about pilots and scientists with superpowers. They don't even go deep into the "look beyond the surface" thing with The Thing, just touch on it a bit.
I still think Jessica Alba is a little too Hollywood-looking for Sue Storm and I'm not quite sold that Doom was, you know, Doom, but they both worked well in the movie.
The Thing looks better in the movie than he did in still and the trailers, and they actually do pretty well with Reed's stretching.
DVD will be added to my collection.
I do wish Laurie Holden had had a bigger role, though.
editted to add: I just realized that it holds to the modern tradition of turning a white comic book character black. Not a complaint or a criticism, just an observation.

Bottom line, cinema and comics are totally different media so as long as they get the gist of it and the movie's entertaining, I'm for it.
